I. From the One proceed the Two. The Thean Church believes that from the One who is beyond all aspects, attributes, names and knowledge and who includes All, proceeds both the Mother who is Lady and Queen and the Father who is Lord and King. Together as One, the Mother and Father are the co-Creators of Heaven and Earth, the Seen and the Unseen.

II. The Church of Thea are a people who have been called to give worship, adoration and honor to the Father and Mother. Within the Thean Church, however, there is a respected place for those who are drawn toward the exclusive worship of either the Mother or the Father.

III. Theans believe that many of the sacred scriptures of even the patriarchal faiths contain revelations and traditions that can form a solid foundation for righteous life and spiritual inspiration. While the few purely matriarchal scriptural texts exist, these also will provide many of the basic inspirations to promote righteous living and worship within the Thean Church.

IV. We seek to be a Community of Thea and Theos, Lady and Lord. We believe that while spiritual practice can be exercised at an individual level, religion - the reconnecting to Godde ( the Mother and Father) should have a communal aspect. The purpose of the institutional Church of Thea is to enable the people and community of Thea to form and come into being. Therefore, the Church of Thea will adhere to the spirit and practice of open Communion.

V. While united in one Body by the One (Holy One) , people come from a multiplicity of differing religious traditions and hold diverse beliefs. The Church respects and supports this vigorous theological diversity. This is done via the establishing of various houses which will be centers of hospitality; theological thought and liturgical development; and devotional practice for those who hold to variant traditions within the Church.

VI. The chief governing body of the Thean Church is the Bishops' Council. While a strong degree of religious diversity is encouraged within the Church, a strong level of unity and governance is also needed. The Bishops' Council will have that role. Some of the Council's activities will be to facilitate and promote the development of liturgies, teachings and ethical standards needed to promote the spiritual life of the people of the Church. The Bishops' Council will also conduct all other necessary activities to insure the unity, well being, and growth of the Church.

VII. The fundamental unit of the Church of Thea will be the household or hestia, named after the Greek Goddess of the hearth and household. It is the primary place of religious practice, and is the basic spiritual sanctuary for families and individuals. The health and vitality of future, local Thean communities will, to a great degree, be based on the health and spiritual life of its hestias. Additionally, it is recognized that some members of future Thean communities might wish to gather together for formal worship for liturgy, feast days and holy days. Clergy who have received valid Holy Orders will be available to the community to offer both liturgy and the sacraments. Members may also choose to become ordained to serve liturgy in their own Hestias after a proper time of preparation.

VIII. Revelations of the Fullness of Thea have occurred at various times and places, historically. Revelations of the Fullness of Theos have also been revealed at various times and places. The revelations of the Abrahamic, Hindu, Gnostic, Zoroastrian, and Pagan traditions are some of these. Those who become members of the Community of Thea will be encouraged to remain in their devotion to the Lady or Lord in their life.

IX. While most religions have a very specific idea of how the process of salvation occurs either in this life or the next, belief in a specific soteriology is not required of members of the Thean Church. What the Thean Church teaches is love and adoration of the Holy One as both Lady and Lord, submission to Their Will, and a spirit of service to the Community.

X. All persons having achieved the age of reason if so moved can seek membership within the Church of Thea. Children who are being brought up in the faith are assumed to be members unless they announce their intention not to be. No exclusions of membership will be based on the issue of sexual orientation, race, sex, etc. Potential members of the Church will not be required to give up present religious affiliation. Thus, a person can be a member in good standing and also be a member within the Roman Catholic Church, the Buddhist faith or any other religious faith. The Thean Church aspires to be a healing and reconciling church for those in need to the extent that it has the capacity.
